Member representing Ovia North East Constituency I, at the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Charity Iguodala Aiguobarueghian has empowered 41 women in the constituent with the sum of N50,000 each to support their businesses especially in this Christmas season.

He said the fund would be used to support their trade for one year, and thereafter transferred to other beneficiaries.

This was just as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) legislator also pledged a personal support fund for “indegents students education who are genuinely in need.”

He stated this during a town hall meeting with the people of his constituent at Ekiadolor community, Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State.

Aiguobarueghian said the empowerments are in fulfillment of his electioneering promises to the people, adding, “I went to school with not a very rich background and it was really difficult.

“As a result of that, I have always had this knack to support any indegents students that have genuine needs.”

Continuing, he discribed the town hall meeting as apt, because according to him, “it serves as a venue for the people to access people in government.

“And as someone who had interest in government, I have always known that there’s a void not filled.

“That was why during my campaigns, I told the people that I am not going to subsume their wishes if elected, but ensure that what they desire is articulated through me.

“So, in articulating people’s dream, you must have a forum to get it poured out to you. And the only way to do that, is through a town hall meeting like this where people are given the leeway to talk as they wish.

“I thank God we are able to see it under an environment of conviviality and peace where people are able to speak on their own without having to shout down anybody.

“My happiness is that, what they expressed as their needs are exactly the same thing that we are thinking is the duties of government towards them.

“Most of the issues that were raised for implementation. I am happy to tell you that they are already in the draft bill for the appropriation law that is already before the House of Assembly.

“Those that are not there, we will make efforts to incorporate them so that at the end of the day, it will be a case of wishes met,” Aiguobarueghian said.
