Mrs Abu, mother of the abducted medical doctor, Abu Babatunde Ibrahim, has appealed to well meaning Nigerians and the international community to help raise the sum of N100 million demanded by his kidnappers to secure his release, saying that, delay could be very dangerous.
Truth Live News Media reports that the young medical doctor and his younger brother, Tahir Abu, were kidnapped by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers at about 7:30 pm, on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the gate of their residence, along City Pride Road, Igbira Camp in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
Their abductors later contacted the family and demanded for N200 million to free the two brothers. But, the gunmen later killed the younger brother, Tahir, before the money could be raised.
His lifeless body was later found at a riverbank in the forest by security operatives who were combing the bush for the victims.
In a viral video making the rounds, Mrs. Abu was seen soliciting for assistance to raised the N100 million for the release of his son.
“Please I’m here to solicit for money to release my boy out of kidnappers’ hands. They kidnapped two, one has been killed, it remains Dr. Abu Babatunde Ibrahim in their den. The earlier the better, masses should assist me.
“Whoever has, nothing is too small, they should please have mercy on me, they should donate for me to enable me free my sọ from the hands of the kidnappers. They’ve been requesting now for N100 millionand I cannot provide the N100 million, till date. He is still in their den. He was adopted in Friday, [January] 2nd.
“Delay could be dangerous again, I don’t want this one to be killed. International community should please assist me to bail my son out. He is a medical doctor serving the nation. He was coming from his office when he was abducted. I never knew this could happen to him, please have mercy on me,” Mrs. Abu pleaded.
A source lose to the family who asked not to be named, said: “After paying the sum of N20 million, the kidnappers are now insisting we make it N50 million before Dr. Tunde will be released. Please help us in the name of God.”
