Group Pledges Support For Edo Govt’s Anti-Kidnapping Crusade

A group, Okpuje Patriots, has pledged its support to the Edo state government on its anti-kidnapping crusade targeted at restoring security for economic development.

The group’s Acting Converner, Idonuan Agbonlua disclosed this in a statement made available to Journalists in Benin.

Mr. Agbonlua said the anti-kidnapping law has helped to build the confidence of investors and restore a lasting peace and security in the state as no one would invest in a place that is overwhelmed by insecurity.

Agbonlua, while commending the state governor, Monday Okpebholo for his decisive intervention in the kidnap case of Prof. Monday Lewis Igbafen of the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, he said it was his clear demonstration of his concern for the security and safety of the citizens of the state.

He said the government should also ensure justice and recover his personal effects from the kidnappers.

Prof. Igbafen had, through his lawyer, Prof Bola Adekanle, petitioned the Governor to intervene and cause police’s reinvestigation of his kidnap as a result of alleged unsatisfactory police investigation which left his valuable effects, including Highlander SUV unrecovered.

Recall that Prof. Monday Lewis Igbafen was kidnapped on September 28, 2024, at the gate of his residence at Ekpoma.
