Edo Works Commissioner, Akhabue Boosts Residents Confidence, Says Roads Will Be Constructed To Specifications

The Edo State Commissioner of Works, Engr. Felix Akhabue has again boosted the confidence of the residents of the state in governor Monday Okpebholo’s capability to start and finish strong on the ongoing road construction projects embarked upon across the state.

He said this when he visited the various ongoing road projects within the Edo South senatorial district of the state.

Engr. Akhabue added that with the array of qualified engineers from his ministry working hand-in-hand with the sites engineers, the jobs would be done to specifications as they have their eyes focused on details.

Akhabue assured the residents of the state that the government will complete the ongoing road projects across the state at a stipulated record time.

The Commissioner maintained that the governor does not have abandoned projects in his dictionary and that whatever he starts, he finishes.

Engr. Akhabue said visiting the various sites became necessary to ascertain the pace and level of work done.

Akhabue added that the work is going on as planned and that residents will soon heave a sign of relief.

“I’m sure you are happy with me for the past hours and we have been moving from project to project. I’m sure this is the sixth projects, where we are now and from here, we are still going to cover about two projects more.

“Palace Road, we are still going there from here. So we want to see the extent of work. And we are happy that various press men are here. And you are seeing the extent of work and you are able to have opportunity to talk to the contractor and I’m here as commissioner of works in this state too”, Akhabue said.

Also speaking, the contractor handling the flyover project at the Benin-Sapele road axis of the state, Lorenzin Maurizio, assured residents that the project will be completed within the 24-month timeframe, potentially even sooner.

He said the current work progress at the site is 20 percent.

A resident of Okhunmwun in Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state, Lucky Ehigiator, commended the state government for coming to their rescue by constructing the road which he said would boost the economic activities in the area.

He said the road was in a bad state before now but respite has come their way following the reconstruction of the road.

Roads inspected, include Construction of Technical College Road with adjoining roads, erosion control with underground drainage, construction of Evbuotubu Road, construction of Okhunmwun Road, Reconstruction of Upper Ekehuan Road ( Urhuokhokho to Ugbineh community), construction and Erosion Control Works at Catholic Charismatic Renewal Road.

Others are Adesuwa-Sapele Road Flyover, Ramat Park Flyover, flood control, gully reclamation and construction of surface and underground drain through Obaseki street by Ikpoba River, construction of Ekiuwa-University of Benin Road,
Palace Road.
