Former Governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, has tasked the people of the state to prioritise unity, justice, fairness and inclusive development, as it marks its 50th anniversary of creation.
He also felicitated with the government and people of the state on the occasion, describing the Golden Jubilee as a moment for reflection, gratitude and renewed commitment to the ideals that shaped the state’s creation.
In a congratulatory message to mark the feat, Ohakim said that over the past five decades, Imo State has produced outstanding individuals who have distinguished themselves in governance, education, commerce, culture, sports and public service, contributing meaningfully to national development.
He paid tribute to the founding leaders and citizens whose sacrifices laid the foundation of the state, often under challenging circumstances.
The former governor lauded the people-centred approach of the current administration under the leadership of Governor Hope Uzodimma.
Expressing confidence in the resilience and ingenuity of Ndi Imo at home and in the diaspora, he added that the Golden Jubilee should serve as a catalyst for renewed hope and optimism, while wishing the state continued peace, progress and prosperity.
