The Lagos State Ministry of Education has extended the deadline for the registration of the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) from April 14 to April 28.

This is contained in a statement by the director of Lagos State Examination board, Orunsolu Adebayo, made available to newsmen on Thursday in Lagos.

According to the director, the extension was required because of the difficulties schools were having with the network issue and the current state of the economy.

He said, “The examinations board wishes to inform public junior secondary schools, approved private junior secondary and special schools that the deadline for payment and registration for the year 2023 BECE earlier fixed for April 14 has been extended to April 28 2023.”

“The hitches also range from Central Bank (of Nigeria)’s cashless policy, which made the processes cumbersome for most schools, and epileptic network services, hence the decision,” the examination board noted.

The extension, according to Adebayo, will allow most state-approved private and special schools that have not yet registered their candidates to do so because the Board does not want to exclude any school or its students from the opportunity to participate in the exam.

“To this end, the Examinations Board, therefore, implores all affected schools to use this opportunity as excuses will not be entertained after the expiration of the new date,” he added.
