The Department Of State Service ( DSS) has brought an Exparte Motion before an Edo State High Court requesting for Osaze Adun also known as” Kapuepue” to be remanded in prison for 14 days pending an Advise from the Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP) ahead of a proper arraignment for the assault of Dr. Pedro Obaseki in Benin City.
The case came up on 12th February, 2026 in the High Court of Justice in the Benin Judiciary Division presided over by Hon. Justice R. A. Ogbevoen.
When the case was called, the DSS counsel brought before the court an Exparte Motion requesting the court to order that the Defendant Osaze Adun be remanded in the Correctional Centre as the court awaits DPP advice.
Leading the Defence Counsel, Olayiwola Afolabi (SAN) supported by Collins Ogiegbaen and five others, it was argued that the matter before the court is bailable in line with fundamental human rights of every individual.
He pleaded with the court as he added that though bail is at the discretion of the court.
The presiding Judge, Hon Justice R. A. Ogbevoen later admitted the defendant to a bail to the tune of N5,000,000.00 (Five Million Naira) in like sum with a surety who is resident within the court jurisdiction.
The judge further ruled that the surety must be civil servant of grade level 12 and above.
The judge also ordered the defendant to appear in court every last Friday of the month pending the advice of the DPP on the matter.
It would be recalled that Dr. Pedro Obaseki was in early December, 2025 was abducted by some youths when he went to play football at Uwa Primary School.
He was beaten and dragged along the streets and was made to kneel down at the Palace of monarch, an act that has made him to petition the Department of State Service (DSS)
