In a move to foster a serene atmosphere during the Islamic holy month, the Kano State Censorship Board has ordered the immediate suspension of all entertainment centers and activities across the state, effective from Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
The directive, announced in a press statement by the board’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, targets event centers, gala houses, and DJ operations, mandating their closure throughout Ramadan to promote peace and spiritual focus for residents.
“Effective from Wednesday, 18 February 2026, all such venues (entertainment centres) will remain closed until the end of the holy month of Ramadan,” the statement declared. “The directive will take effect from 10:00 p.m. on that day Wednesday.”
The board emphasized that the measure aligns with the sacred nature of Ramadan, urging operators to comply fully. “The closure will remain in force throughout the fasting period, while the date for reopening, particularly during the Eid celebrations, will be announced at the appropriate time,” it added.
In a closing note, the board extended well-wishes, praying for a tranquil and blessed Ramadan, and asking God to grant the faithful grace, mercy, and prosperity during the observance.
