The Edo State Government has appointed popular Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson Okojie as Special Adviser on Public Engagement and Advocacy.
The appointment was approved by the Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, as part of efforts to strengthen communication between government and the people.
According to an official statement, Mercy Johnson Okojie’s role will focus on public communication, citizens’ engagement, and advocacy programmes across the state.
The government noted that her widespread popularity and long-standing influence in the entertainment industry make her well positioned to connect policies with grassroots communities.
The actress, 41, who has spent nearly two decades in Nollywood and featured in hundreds of films, is expected to use her platform to promote government initiatives and encourage public participation in governance.
This development reflects a growing trend of involving respected public figures in governance to improve trust and public awareness.
