ADC Pioneer Publicity Secretary, Arinze Sues IGP, DSS DG On Unearthing Attackers Of Obi, Oyegun

Lucky Obukohwo, Reporting

The founding member/pioneer National Publicity Secretary of
African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief Anayo Arinze, has sued the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tunji Disu, the Director General of Department of State Services (DSS) Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi to unearth those who allegedly carried out an assassination attack on the Presidential aspirant of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peter Obi and the national leader of the party, Chief John Odigie Oyegun in Benin.

He gave the task in a statement titled: “Attack on Peter Obi and ADC chieftains in Edo: Enough is enough, signed by him and made available to Journalists.

Chief Arinze said the attack should not be swept under the carpet but the culprits should be arrested and be meant to face the full weight of the law.

Arinze who said he received the news of the attack with a great shock, noted that it is very unfortunate that the All Progressives Congress (APC) governments at both Edo State and at the national level are returning our democratic experiment to the dark days of political hooliganism, thuggery and assassinations just because they want to hold on to power in 2027.

The pioneer publicity secretary of the party noted that Nigerians are experiencing enough insecurity in their land through insurgency, banditry and youth restiveness.

He said Nigerians do not wish to experience any eruption of political hooliganism and violence in any part of Nigeria anymore.

He appealed to the APC not to pull our country into undue political crises that will consume all of us, stressing that enough of this unwarranted provocation by the APC leaders who know that their time is up in Nigeria.

He said leaders in a democratic dispensation must derive their mandates from the votes of the electorate not on gun points.

He said it would be recalled that the governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, last year, warned Mr. Peter Gregory Obi never to come to Edo State without his express approval otherwise, he threatened that his (Peter’s) safety would not be guaranteed by him ( the governor), stressing that Nigerians thought that it was an empty threat.

He said however, one would not be wrong to assume that the recent assassination attempt on the life of Mr. Peter Obi, at an ADC function, and up to the house of Chief Odigie Oyegun, the former governor of the state, was a fulfilment of the threats of the governor of Edo State against Mr. Peter Obi.

He further warned APC governments at all levels to desist from all actions that could truncate democracy in Nigeria adding that, the APC-led governments must know that nobody has monopoly of violence.
