Madagali, the hometown of Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, has once again come under attack, marking the fourth assault in five months. Previous incidents were reported on October 1, November 19, and December 8, 2025, with the latest occurring on February 24, 2026.
Local sources report that the attack claimed multiple lives. Mohammed Yusuf, a resident of Kirchinga, Governor Fintiri’s village, told a correspondent from Punch News that suspected Boko Haram insurgents struck around midnight on Tuesday.
“Nobody can give you the correct figure of the dead now, because many people ran into the bush, and we are yet to account for others from this village,” he said.
Another source suggested the attackers may have had insider assistance. “They were calling people by name to come out or be burned inside their houses. This implies there were insiders among the attackers,” the source said.
The Adamawa State Police Command has yet to release an official casualty figure. Spokesperson SP Suleiman Nguroje confirmed that authorities are still gathering information. “I am still making contact to get the correct figure of the casualties; just give me a little time,” he said.
