The Police Command in Osun State has arrested a 17-year-old female student of the Osun State University, Ikire campus, Victory Ehiremen, and her boyfriend, Ayobami Ariyo, for allegedly obtaining N1.5m from a complainant they lured from Lagos to Osun State.

The State Commissioner of Police, Kehinde Longe, who made the disclosure when parading the suspects at the police headquarter in Osogbo, said that Ehiremen met the complainant on social media a few days before the incident and they started chatting.

He continued that the complainant was later invited to Ikire from Lagos by Ehiremen, who, during the visit, lured him to her boyfriend’s house where he met some unscrupulous elements who attacked him and collected his phone, which they used to transfer the sum of N1.5 million from his account.

He said “Immediately the case was reported, police detectives swung into action and arrested one Ariyo Ayobami from his hideout.

“Preliminary investigation led to the arrest of the two other accomplices. Efforts are ongoing to arrest other culprits while the suspects will be charged to court after the completion of the investigation.”

Speaking to reporters, Ehiremen said that she was unaware of her boyfriend’s scheme to trick the victim into giving him money.

She claimed that she showed her fury when Ayobami and his companion stormed the room where she was with him and began attacking the complainant.

She went on to say that she met the complainant through WhatsApp and that her boyfriend, who she said was involved in online fraud, had given her a present of N40,000 two days after the incident.
