The former chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Etsako West Local Government Area, Edo State, Hon Alasa Idaro, has been suspended for endorsing Prince Clement Agba as a governorship candidate for the 2024 election.
A statement signed by Pascal Ogie, the Etsako West APC Secretary in Edo, indicated that this decision was made during a meeting held by party executives on Monday, September 25, 2023.
“The Etsako West APC Executive in a meeting held on Monday 25th September, 2023 suspended Hon Alasa Idaro, former Chairman of Etsako West Local Government Council for alleged impersonation and for convening unauthorized Edo North Leaders Forum meeting to endorse a particular gubernatorial aspirant for 2024 election, Prince Clement Agba,” the statement said.
The leadership stressed that the former chairman action is seen as an embarrasmet to the Party hierarchy at all levels in the State.
It therefore, gave him 14days suspension to enable the five man committee set up by the party to investigate his offence.
“The 14days suspension from the Party activities is to enable the five man committee set up to investigate the alleged offence, to enable final decision. By this suspection, Hon Alasa Idaro should step aside from all party activities. He is however mandated to appear before the investigation committee when invited to do so.
“The committee shall submit her report to the LGA Party Chairman not later than 9th October, 2023,” the statement added.
Furthermore, the party’s leadership dissociate itself from the alleged meeting of the Edo North Leaders Forum and its resolutions, emphasizing that a fair and level play ground will be provided for all gubernatorial aspirants.
