The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has firmly denied reports and a circulating social media video alleging the arrest and prosecution of Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, ICPC spokesperson Okor Odey described the viral content as “false and malicious,” insisting it is designed to mislead the public and cause mischief.
According to reports by Daily Post, Truth Live News learnt that the commission categorically stated that it has not arrested, invited, or initiated any investigation involving the judge. “ICPC wishes to clarify that it has neither arrested nor invited Justice James Omotosho in relation to any investigation,” the statement read.
“The Commission is also not investigating the Honourable Judge as alleged in the video,” it added.
The ICPC urged the public to disregard the misleading claims and avoid spreading unverified information that could spark unnecessary concern or harm reputations.
“The commission therefore urges members of the public to disregard the misleading content and refrain from spreading unverified information capable of causing unnecessary public concern and damaging reputations,” the statement concluded.
The clarification comes amid growing concerns over the spread of fake news targeting judicial figures, as Justice Omotosho has presided over several high-profile cases in recent times.
No further details on the origin of the video were provided in the ICPC release.
