JUST IN: Tinubu Swears in Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday formally swore in Mr. Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of State for Finance during a brief ceremony held at the Presidential Villa in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja.

The oath-of-office ceremony, conducted in the presence of senior government officials and aides, marked the official assumption of duties by Oyedele in the Federal Ministry of Finance. The event underscored the administration’s continued efforts to strengthen economic management and deepen fiscal reforms.

During the ceremony, President Tinubu congratulated the newly sworn-in minister, expressing confidence in his capacity to contribute meaningfully to the government’s economic agenda. The president described Oyedele as a seasoned professional whose expertise in fiscal policy and taxation would be vital in driving reforms aimed at stabilising Nigeria’s economy and boosting revenue generation.

Oyedele, a respected tax policy expert and former chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, took the oath administered by the appropriate government authority before formally signing the oath register.

Speaking briefly after the ceremony, President Tinubu urged the new minister to work closely with the finance ministry leadership and other economic managers to accelerate reforms that would enhance transparency, expand the tax base, and improve public revenue without placing undue burden on citizens.
