Armed Forces Remembrance Day: Tinubu Leads Tributes to Fallen Heroes in Abuja

On Monday, President Bola Tinubu, alongside the leadership of the National Assembly, armed forces, and key stakeholders, paid homage to fallen heroes at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, National Cenotaph, Abuja.

Th ceremony marked the culmination of activities initiated with the launch of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem last October.

Present at the ceremony were Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Minister of Defence Abubakar Badaru, Chief Justice of the Federation Olukayode Ariwoola, and other dignitaries. Christian and Muslim prayers were offered for the peaceful repose of departed heroes, followed by a minute of silence.

President Tinubu led the wreath-laying ceremony at the tomb, followed by other dignitaries, including the Senate President, Speaker House of Representatives, Chief Justice of the Federation, Minister of the FCT, Minister of State for Defence, and the Doyen of the Diplomatic Corps in Nigeria. Service chiefs and the Inspector General of Police also participated in laying wreaths.

Ceremonial volleys were fired by armed soldiers as part of the military ceremony. President Tinubu concluded the event by signing the register of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration and symbolically releasing white pigeons.
