C’River Gov. Approves Immediate Payment Of Unpaid Workers

Cross River State Governor Sen Bassey Edet Otu had directed immediate payment of all State and Local Government unpaid Workers including Pensioners.

In a statement made available to newsmen by his Chief Press Secretary Emmanuel Ogbeche, on Wednesday the Governor approved immediate payment of all unpaid salaries and pensions.

Nevertheless, “those with issues be verified and cleared for the implementation of February salaries,” he said.

Particularly, the Governor sympathized with all employees and pensioners for the delay in the payment of salaries.

For instance, he explained that it was due to ongoing staff and pension audit and verification exercise.

On the other hand, “all those with duplicate names and accounts should report at the Office of the Head of Service for authentication,” he directed.

Accordingly, this is to ensure a seamless payment of February salaries and pensions.

Also, he disclosed that names of the affected staff have been sent to the respective MDAs for action.

“The Governor is desirous to save sufficient funds from the audit and verification exercise,” the statement reads.

It announced the governor will Commence immediate employment of the unemployed Cross Riverians into the State and Local Government Service.

Recall that Civil servants in Cross River State who have not received their salaries embarked on protest in Calabar.

In a viral video on social media they were seeing occupying the office of the Secretary to the State Government, (SSG) Prof. Anthony Owan Enoh to lay their complaints.

Truth Live News reported some civil servants had not received their January salaries.

For instance, the unpaid civil rights servants complained that “The hardship was killing some people already.”

“That is with all this hardship and suffering, Dem no pay salaries o… Children are out of school, no food.”

Moreover,, “Government asked us to go to the SSG office with our names, computer number, and account details among others.”

“When we got there, they did not tell us anything hence, the agitation you seen in that video,” they said.
