Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson Turned Away from Polling Station Over ID

Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson was denied entry to a polling station because he forgot to bring a photo ID.

According to Sky News, Truthlive news learnt that Mr. Johnson was informed by polling station staff that he couldn’t vote without proving his identity.

This requirement for photo ID was implemented by Mr. Johnson himself during his tenure in Downing Street as part of the Elections Act 2022.

It’s further reported that Mr. Johnson was eventually allowed to vote, and he cast his ballot for the Conservative party.

The local elections on Thursday marked the first time many voters in England and Wales had to show ID to vote, a measure initially introduced during last year’s local elections.

Acceptable forms of ID include passports, driving licences, Proof of Age Standards Scheme (Pass) cards, Blue Badges, and certain concessionary travel cards.
