Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki has said that for the good things to continue, the people have to ensure that his chosen successor, Asue Ighodalo, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) who will continue where he stopped, wins the September 21 governorship election.

He said this when he visited the Edo State Muslims Pilgrim Welfare Board to bid farewell to intending pilgrims for the 2024 Hajj and the launching of the feed the vulnerable programme organized by the state government for Muslims in Benin City.

Earlier, Sheik Ibrahim Oyarekhua said that, as clerics, they have the ability to tell the truth to those who occupy the position of leadership to strengthen and reshape our system and the country, just as he begged the governor to forgive those who offended him.

“My appeal to your Excellency is to try as much as possible to reconcile with people who have offended you and those you have offended in the cause of your duties as governor. Try as much as possible to reconcile with them because tomorrow is pregnant.

“So, just do this for us, yourself, and the candidate you are projecting to the people for the election. This will go a long way in assisting your candidate in winning this election without stress. I am saying this because in the case of office, some persons may not be able to understand you or you may not be able to understand them, and at the end, you may offend them or they may offend you,” he stated.

Oyarekhua, who said there is wisdom and togetherness in reconciliation, opined that the more we are, the better for us because politics is a game of numbers.
