UNIJOS Postpones Exams After Deadly Jos Attack

The University of Jos has announced the postponement of all examinations scheduled for Monday March 30 and Tuesday March 31, 2026, following the deadly attack on the Angwan Rukuba community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State on Sunday night.

The university’s management communicated the decision to staff and students, citing the tensions generated by the attack and the need to ensure the safety of all members of the university community.
“This is in view of the Sunday night attack by gunmen on residents of Angwan Rukuba and the consequential tensions it has generated in and around the area,” Deputy Registrar Emmanuel Madugu said, adding that hostel activities have also been suspended and urging all staff and students to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary movements until the situation stabilises.

New dates for the postponed examinations will be communicated to students in due course.
The Plateau State Government has also imposed a 48-hour curfew on Jos North Local Government Area following the attack, which claimed at least 12 lives and left several others injured.
