Aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Oredo East Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, Michael Ezomo, has said his grassroots empowerment initiative aims at Edo women, is pivotal to his winning in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
Ezomo disclosed that he empowers no fewer than 10 women monthly across his ward, describing women as critical and vital stakeholders in electoral success and community development.
He made this known during the official declaration of his intention to contest for the Oredo East seat at the APC ward 3 secretariat in Benin City, where he formally flagged off his campaign.
“Without women, there can be no elections. They are the backbone of our communities and play a decisive role in determining electoral outcomes,” Ezomo said.
The APC aspirant noted that his initiative, which currently benefits women in Ward 3 of Oredo East Constituency, is targeted at improving livelihoods and fostering economic inclusion at the grassroots level.
He called on women across the constituency to support his aspiration to emerge as the party’s candidate, assuring that his representation would prioritise empowerment, inclusiveness, and sustainable development.
Ezomo further stated that his decision to contest the assembly seat is driven by a desire to complement the development efforts of Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
According to him, aligning legislative representation with the policies of the state government would accelerate development and ensure that the dividends of democracy reach more communities within Oredo East.
Speaking, the chairman, Oredo APC ward 3 Chairman, Barrister Francis Omigie pledged support for the aspirants and described him as one of their own.
Omigie further cautioned members against betrayal urging members to rally round him to be able to secure victory when the time comes.
