Aiyedatiwa Sacks All Political Aides, Plans Fresh Appointment of 1000

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has relieved all his political aides of their duties as part of a major restructuring of his administration.

The decision was disclosed in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, in Akure, who said the move was aimed at improving efficiency and strengthening service delivery.

According to the statement:

“In the ongoing drive to enhance efficiency and deepen service delivery, Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has relieved all political aides of their duties with immediate effect.

“Those affected are Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants to the Governor.

“The governor thanked them for their contributions to the development of the state thus far and wished them well in their future endeavours.”

The government also announced plans to appoint a new set of aides across the state.

“Meanwhile, in a step to strengthen coordination and inject fresh capacity into the administration, about 1000 new aides, from across the 203 wards in the 18 local government areas of the State, will be appointed by the Governor in due course.”

The affected aides were originally appointed on November 8, 2025.

Meanwhile, several political appointees have stepped down from their positions ahead of the 2027 general elections, in compliance with electoral guidelines issued by Independent National Electoral Commission.

Among those who resigned are Gbenga Omole, Special Adviser on Transport; Fadairo Oluwafemi, Senior Special Assistant on Community Engagement (Central); and Dr. Olusegun Victor Ategbole, Chairman of the Ondo State Hospital Management Board.

Also, Engr. Razaq Obe, Director General of the Performance and Project Implementation Monitoring Unit, has resigned, while Adeola Fynch, Secretary to Akure South Local Government, stepped down effective March 20, 2026.

Some of the former appointees are reportedly preparing to contest legislative seats in the upcoming elections.
