The Ghana Meteorological Agency has issued a warning over possible thunderstorms and flooding expected to affect several parts of Ghana.
Truth Live News International learnt from MyJoyOnline that two developing rainstorms along the borders of Togo and Benin are forecast to merge and move into the country, increasing the likelihood of heavy rainfall.
According to the agency, the weather system, combined with locally formed rain clouds, is expected to trigger thunderstorms of varying intensity from the afternoon into the night.
Areas likely to be impacted include the coastal, middle, transition, and parts of the northern regions, with low-lying communities facing a higher risk of flooding. Strong winds are also expected to accompany the storms.
Forecasts indicate that between late afternoon and evening hours, cities such as Ho, Tamale, Kumasi, and Obuasi may experience rainfall. As the system progresses, it is expected to reach coastal areas including Accra and surrounding communities later in the night.
Additional regions, including Sunyani, Cape Coast, and Tarkwa, may also be affected as the rain system continues its movement.
The meteorological agency has advised residents, particularly those in flood-prone areas, to take precautionary measures and stay alert as weather conditions develop.
