The (INEC) has announced the withdrawal of recognition of Senator David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola as National Chairman and National Secretary of the (ADC).
In a statement issued on Wednesday, 1 April 2026, and signed by National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, , the commission said the decision followed the judgment of the Court of Appeal in Suit No. CA/ABJ/145/2026.
INEC said the appellate court directed all parties to maintain the status quo ante bellum pending the determination of the substantive suit before the Federal High Court, Abuja.
The commission stated that, in compliance with the ruling, it had removed the names of the affected officials from its portal, noting that the leadership list was originally uploaded on 9 September 2025, after the commencement of legal proceedings.
It also said it would not recognise , who is laying claim to the party’s chairmanship through ongoing litigation.
INEC further stated that it would suspend all engagements relating to the party, including monitoring of conventions, congresses or meetings organised by any faction, until the court delivers a final judgment.
“The Commission shall not receive any correspondence or deal with any of the parties regarding the affairs of the party pending the determination of the matter,” the statement said.
The electoral body noted that the decision was taken after receiving conflicting legal communications from the parties involved, including requests for enforcement and caution against recognition.
It reaffirmed its commitment to neutrality and due process, adding that its actions are intended to preserve the integrity of the judicial proceedings and ensure compliance with the court’s directive.
