Ahead of the September 21 governorship election in Edo State, the Esan-centric socio-cultural group, Esan4OsadebeHouse2024Team, has issued a clarion call to all Esan sons and daughters to unite in support of Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The group, in a communique titled “Unity and Support for Asue Ighodalo – A Call to Action,” emphasized the need for the Esan people to act as a cohesive unit, avoiding any division that could lead to a split in votes, which they warned could have far-reaching negative consequences for the Esan nation.
Signed by Barr. Engr. Patrick Egbadon Okpebholo, also known as Patsbolo, leader of the group, the communique highlighted the significance of the moment, describing it as a critical juncture in Esan’s history. The group urged the Esan people not to let emotions dictate their actions, as doing so could be detrimental to their chances of producing the next governor of Edo State.
“The upcoming election presents a rare opportunity for Esan to produce a candidate, Asue Ighodalo, who has consistently shown commitment to our welfare,” the communique reads. “We cannot afford to squander this chance. Unity is our strongest asset, and we must rally behind our candidate to ensure victory.”
The group cautioned that failing to unite could lead to unintended consequences, potentially handing the election to the Labour Party (LP) and setting the Esan people back for decades. They called on all Esan people to pool their resources and energies to secure Ighodalo’s victory.
“Esan is ready, Edo is ready, ASUE IS READY!” the communique concluded, urging a united front for the upcoming election.
