Benin City, Edo State
The Edo State Government has formally reached out to Senator Monday Okpebholo, requesting the initiation of his transition team to interface with the outgoing administration’s team in preparation for a smooth handover of power.
In a letter dated October 10, 2024, made available to Truth Live News, the Secretary to the State Government, Joseph Eboigbe, stressed the importance of forming the team to begin discussions and share vital information to ensure continuity of governance.
The letter recalls that in July 2024, Governor Godwin Obaseki inaugurated a 20-member transition committee chaired by Eboigbe to manage the transfer of responsibilities to the incoming administration.
āAs we prepare for the transition of power, we believe it is crucial to establish a smooth and effective collaboration between your team and our current administration,ā the letter read.
Eboigbe expressed the administrationās willingness to support the transition process and proposed October 14, 2024, as the date for the inaugural meeting of both transition committees.
The letter was received at the Edo APC Secretariat by Mr. Joy Oyere, but as of yet, Senator Okpebholo and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), have not issued a response.
This delayed response casts a shadow over what should be a hopeful period of collaboration, as both sides work to ensure a seamless transition in the interest of the people of Edo State. Despite the uncertainty, the outgoing administration remains committed to making the transition as smooth as possible.
