Russian Drone Strike Kills Mother, Child In Odesa

A Russian drone attack on the southern Ukrainian city of Odesa has killed a 30-year-old mother, her two-year-old daughter, and another woman, according to local officials.

The overnight strike, which occurred on April 6, 2026, also left at least 16 people injured, including a pregnant woman and two young children.Truth Live News International learnt from the Reuters that, authorities said several residential buildings, a kindergarten, and energy infrastructure were damaged in the attack.

Regional governor Oleh Kiper described the incident as a heavy assault, noting that critical facilities were affected. Power outages were reported across parts of the city, with around 16,700 households left without electricity as repair efforts began.

Emergency responders were seen clearing debris from damaged buildings, including a residential structure that suffered significant destruction. Residents said multiple drones struck the area, causing parts of buildings to collapse and trapping occupants inside.

The attack comes as Russia continues its military campaign against Ukraine, now in its fifth year. Odesa remains a strategic location due to its role as a major port and logistics hub.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said a large number of drones were launched across the country overnight, targeting multiple regions and critical infrastructure. He renewed calls for stronger air defence systems, warning that attacks are ongoing and intensifying.
