A former presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has welcomed the immediate past Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, following his defection to the African Democratic Congress.
In a statement shared via his X handle on Monday, April 6, 2026, Kwankwaso congratulated Gwarzo, describing his move as a major boost to the party’s strength and momentum.
According to reports, Gwarzo formally joined the opposition coalition in Kano State on Sunday, April 5, 2026, during a grand reception held in Gwarzo Town.
“I heartily congratulate Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, the immediate past Deputy Governor of Kano State, on his decision to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC),” Kwankwaso said.
“The grand reception held yesterday in Gwarzo Town has not only strengthened our ranks with his wealth of experience but has also injected fresh energy and renewed enthusiasm into the party. Welcome home, Your Excellency.”
The development follows Kwankwaso’s own recent defection to the African Democratic Congress, a move that has continued to trigger fresh political realignments and defections from the New Nigeria Peoples Party.
