Man Allegedly Kills Driver, Sells Minibus For N2.4m In Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a 31-year-old man, Kelechi Wufurum, for allegedly killing a commercial bus driver and selling his vehicle in Rivers State.

According to Punch Metro, the victim, 51-year-old Ifeanyi Abobo, was lured to Ubima community in Ikwerre Local Government Area under the guise of a transport job.

Police spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko said the suspect attacked the driver during an altercation, striking him on the head before using a cutlass. The victim reportedly collapsed at the scene, after which the suspect fled with the minibus and later sold it for N2.4 million, along with the victim’s mobile phone.

Following a report of the incident, the police Special Operations and Intelligence Team launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of the suspect. Those who allegedly bought the stolen vehicle and phone were also taken into custody.

Wufurum reportedly confessed to the crime, explaining that he had lured the driver to a remote area where he overpowered him and took his vehicle.

Authorities said further investigations are ongoing.
