President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Nwakuche Ndidi as the Acting Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service.

The announcement follows the conclusion of Haliru Nababa’s tenure, who had served in the role since February 2021 under former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The appointment, which takes effect from December 15, 2024, was confirmed in a statement issued on Friday by Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Board.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has graciously approved the appointment of Nwakuche Sylvester Ndidi as Acting Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, effective December 15, 2024,” the statement reads in part.

Born on November 26, 1966, in Oguta, Imo State, Ndidi has a distinguished career in public service. He previously served as Deputy Controller-General in charge of the Training and Staff Development Directorate. He is a fellow of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies and holds the national honour of Member of the Federal Republic (MFR).

The President expressed confidence in Ndidi’s extensive experience and urged him to bring his expertise to bear in his new role.
