Semi Eriyo Sr., a respected member of the Benin Royal Family, has issued a stern warning to a social media personality, identified as Apostle Kazzy, over a defamatory video targeting him and his family. The video, which surfaced online on December 26, 2024, has drawn widespread condemnation for its disparaging remarks and baseless allegations.
In a press release, Eriyo described the video as “insulting and degrading,” emphasizing that it not only targeted him but extended its affront to his wife, children, and his privileged position as a member of the Benin Royal Family. “As a man, my first responsibility is to protect my family,” Eriyo stated. “To be called an enemy of the throne is the highest of insults and degradation.”
The accusations by Apostle Kazzy include claims that Eriyo is impotent and that his wife’s pregnancy was fathered by another man. The video also insinuated that Eriyo disrespected the revered Oba of Benin by forwarding a social media post showcasing a park built by the Ooni of Ife. Despite failing to substantiate his claims, Apostle Kazzy repeatedly used Eriyo’s name and shared photos of his family, fueling outrage among viewers.
Eriyo, who expressed his resolve to address the matter legally, issued a 48-hour ultimatum for the pastor to retract the video and publish an apology on all social media platforms and three national dailies. Failure to comply, he warned, would lead to legal action. “I will use every resource and support from family and friends to defend my name and protect my family within the instruments of the law as a civilized, educated, and enlightened individual that I am,” he asserted.
The video has sparked widespread criticism on social media, with many viewers condemning Apostle Kazzy’s actions as “classless” and “shameful.” Commenters on his YouTube channel questioned the rationale behind his accusations and described his threats as unfounded.
Observers have also noted the disconnect between the forwarded post shared by Eriyo and the purported disrespect to the Oba of Benin. “While Apostle Kazzy was unable to make a connection between the forwarded post and disrespect to the highly revered Oba, he lashed out with more threats against Semi Eriyo,” a commenter remarked.
Semi Eriyo concluded his statement by reaffirming his commitment to justice and integrity. “I didn’t draw the first blood here, but I will draw the last blood, so help me God and my Ancestors,” he declared.
The ultimatum sets the stage for a legal showdown that could have far-reaching implications. As the situation unfolds, many are watching to see whether Apostle Kazzy will comply with the demands or face legal consequences.
Eriyo’s decisive stance has resonated with many, who see it as a defense of family, dignity, and the cherished traditions of the Benin Kingdom.
