The Ondo State Police Command has foiled an attempted kidnapping along the Idogun–Imeri axis in Ose Local Government Area, rescuing two victims.
The incident occurred on Friday, April 10, 2026, at about 5:45 p.m., when suspected kidnappers attacked a social gathering where guests had assembled.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, who said operatives responded swiftly to a distress call and were immediately deployed to the scene.
According to the statement, the officers engaged the attackers, successfully disrupting the operation.
“Acting swiftly on distress information, operatives of the command were immediately mobilised to the scene, engaging the criminals and disrupting their operation,” the statement read.
The police confirmed that two victims were rescued and taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
“During the operation, two victims were successfully rescued from the assailants and have been taken to the nearest medical facility,” it added.
The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, commended the operatives for their prompt response and assured residents of strengthened security measures across the area.
The command said additional personnel had been deployed, while combing operations were ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects.
It reiterated its commitment to tackling violent crime, vowing that those responsible would be apprehended and brought to justice.
The commissioner also appreciated the resident who provided timely information that aided the operation and urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with credible intelligence.
Residents were advised to remain calm and vigilant as security efforts continue, while the police assured that further updates would be provided as the situation develops.
