Pope Francis has reportedly expressed concerns about his survival amidst a battle with pneumonia, telling confidants that he “might not make it this time.

” The pontiff has been hospitalized since last week after doctors warned him that staying at the Vatican could be life-threatening.

The Pope was rushed to Rome’s Gemelli hospital on Friday with severe chest pain and was diagnosed with a complex respiratory infection.

The Vatican confirmed on Tuesday that the Pope’s condition remains complex, with laboratory tests and chest X-rays showing a concerning picture.

The infection is particularly worrying given the Pope’s medical history, having had part of his lung removed years ago.

According to Politico, Francis has been working to “tie up loose ends” and secure his legacy at a critical time for the Catholic Church.
