The All Progressives Congress Initiative for Good Governance has commended President Bola Tinubu for efforts to enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency in governance, particularly in the management of military pensions.
In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, the group’s National President, Musa Tsoken, praised the President’s approval of the appointment of retired Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Adamu as Chairman of the Military Pensions Board, effective December 4, 2025.
Tsoken said the appointment underscores the administration’s commitment to leveraging experienced professionals to improve the welfare of retired military personnel and their families.
“This appointment reflects the administration’s deliberate effort to harness seasoned expertise in advancing the welfare of the nation’s gallant retired military personnel and their families,” he said.
The group, however, called for the full implementation of the presidential directive to enable Adamu to assume office without further delay. It noted that his background in military finance, budgeting, and institutional management would significantly strengthen the pension system.
“Allowing AVM Adamu to resume promptly will ensure his proven expertise is applied to the critical task of reforming pension administration,” Tsoken added.
He emphasised the need for swift execution of government decisions, stressing that all arms and agencies of government are constitutionally obligated to implement presidential directives in good faith and with urgency.
The APC-IGG also urged the Presidency, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and relevant institutions to facilitate a smooth transition process.
“Seamless transitions and strict adherence to due process are vital for administrative continuity and the effective delivery of government programmes,” the statement noted.
Reaffirming its support for the Tinubu administration, the group expressed optimism that timely action on the appointment would strengthen governance and improve service delivery to retired service personnel.
“We believe swift resolution of this matter will send a strong signal that Nigeria’s democratic institutions are maturing,” Tsoken said.
