Islamic Cleric Joins Zamfara Governorship Race Under ADC

A prominent Nigerian Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dr AbdulMutallib Mohammad Gusau, has officially declared his intention to run for governor of Zamfara State under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

According to verified reports, the cleric made this known after registering with the party in Gusau, the state capital. He explained that his decision to step into politics is driven by his desire to lead by example, especially at a time when he believes governance in the country is falling short of expectations.

Speaking on his motivation, Sheikh Gusau noted that many politicians do not act with a sense of accountability or moral responsibility. He said his years of preaching have inspired him to take action beyond words, emphasizing that real change requires practical involvement in leadership.

The cleric also expressed concern over the current situation in Zamfara State, particularly issues of insecurity and widespread poverty. He promised that, if elected, his administration would focus on tackling these challenges and improving the living conditions of residents.

In addition, he criticized the performance of the current administration, stating that key campaign promises especially around security have not been fully achieved.

This development adds a new dimension to the political landscape in Zamfara, as more individuals continue to show interest in the 2027 governorship race.
