Former Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye on Tuesday, 14 of April 2026 told Journalists that the Party has a binding contract with the management of the Rainbow event centre.
Dino while addressing news men at the ADC Convention ground stated that the party has paid in full to acquire the services of the event centre for the party’s convention.
” We paid in full for the venue for the ADC Convention, and we will hold it here. With a binding contract with management, no one could have stopped us from proceeding with the convention.”
In a related development gathered by Truthlive news, the former Senator representing Kogi West, told journalists that as late as 11 p.m. the previous night, the owners of the venue had attempted to cancel the programme, but the party stood its ground to continue with the convention.
This comes a day after National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, alleged on Monday night that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and the Federal Capital Development Authority had pressured the venue’s owner to cancel the event, describing it as political intimidation and “creeping tyranny.”
Senator Dino Melaye, a member of the convention planning committee, was defiant in the face of the alleged pressure. Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show, Melaye said attempts had been made to stop the event, including efforts to shut the venue gates and ask organizers to vacate the premises.
Security was heavily beefed up in and around the Rainbow Event Centre, with personnel from the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Services manning the main entrance and conducting thorough checks on delegates and journalists, while patrol vehicles were stationed at strategic locations.
In a new turn of event, ADC are expecting close to 3,000 delegates from across the country to participate in the convention to elect a new National Working Committee that will lead the party for the next four years.
The convention which was projected not to unfold against the backdrop of an ongoing leadership crisis, with a rival bloc aligned with Dumebi Kachikwu rejecting the process and charting a separate course, is set to host one of the formidable coalitions in Nigeria’s political history.
