The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially reaffirmed the leadership of Hon. Tony Aziegbemi as the head of the Edo State Caretaker Committee, following reports of misinformation circulating in the public domain regarding the current status of the party’s leadership in the state.

In a press statement released by the National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the NWC clarified that Aziegbemi’s appointment remains valid and effective. The committee, constituted on February 6, 2025, was empowered under the party’s constitution (as amended in 2017) to oversee the affairs of the PDP in Edo State for an initial period of 90 days.

“For emphasis and avoidance of doubt, the NWC states that the Edo State Chapter of the PDP is under the leadership of Hon. Tony Aziegbemi-led Caretaker Committee,” the statement read.

The NWC urged all party members, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, the media, and the public to disregard any contrary claims suggesting otherwise.

The committee further commended the collaborative efforts of party leaders, stakeholders, members, and supporters in Edo State for their continued support and cooperation with the caretaker committee, describing their unity as vital to the party’s stability and ongoing success in the region.

This move comes as part of the party’s broader effort to maintain internal cohesion and strengthen its organizational structure ahead of upcoming political activities in the state.
