The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan (SAN), is set to deliver a keynote address at a stakeholders’ policy dialogue on Nigeria’s electoral process, an engagement expected to draw key actors across the country’s democratic and governance space.
The event, which is being organised by the Abuja-based law firm Law Corridor, is scheduled to hold on April 29, 2026, at the Abuja Continental Hotel. It is expected to bring together political stakeholders, civil society organisations, election observers, legal experts, and policy actors to examine Nigeria’s electoral system and discuss possible reforms ahead of future elections.
The dialogue is aimed at addressing key issues affecting the credibility and efficiency of elections in the country, including institutional trust, electoral transparency, the use of technology in elections, political party conduct, and broader legal and policy reforms.
Organisers say the discussions will not end at the conference stage, as a policy brief containing recommendations is expected to be compiled and forwarded to relevant authorities after the event.
While expectations remain high, observers note that the real impact of such engagements will depend on how far recommendations are implemented in practice, particularly in addressing long-standing concerns around electoral credibility and public confidence in the system.
