India has expressed serious concern following an attack on two Indian-flagged vessels attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route.
Officials in New Delhi summoned Iran’s envoy to formally communicate their worries and urged authorities in Iran to ensure the safe and swift passage of Indian vessels through the area.
One of the ships involved was identified as the Sanmar Herald. Despite the incident, authorities confirmed that both the crew and the vessel remained unharmed.
India’s foreign ministry called for immediate steps to restore normal shipping operations in the region, emphasizing the importance of maritime security amid rising tensions.
The Iranian ambassador acknowledged the concerns and said they would be relayed to officials in Tehran.
