Eight children aged between 1 and 14 have been killed in a mass shooting in Shreveport, in the U.S. state of Louisiana, according to local police.
Authorities said the attack took place across three residences and is being treated as a domestic incident. At least 10 people were shot in total, though the condition of surviving victims has not been fully disclosed.
Police reported that some of the victims were related to the suspected gunman. After the shootings, the suspect allegedly carjacked a vehicle and fled before being fatally shot by officers following a chase into a neighboring parish.
Officials described the event as one of the most devastating incidents the city has faced. The case is now under investigation, including a review of the police response to the suspect’s death.
The tragedy adds to a growing number of mass shootings in the United States this year, intensifying ongoing concerns around gun violence and public safety.
