JUST IN: Minister of Power Resigns from Tinubu’s Government

Nigeria’s Minister of Power has resigned from President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet, dealing a fresh blow to the administration amid ongoing challenges in the electricity sector.

The development was announced on Wednesday, though details of the resignation letter or the minister’s reasons were not immediately made public by the Presidency.

A source close to the minister confirmed the resignation, stating, “The Minister of Power has submitted his resignation to President Tinubu.”

The minister’s exit comes as the power sector continues to grapple with persistent issues, including low generation capacity, frequent grid collapses, and public frustration over high electricity tariffs and unreliable supply.

No official statement has been issued from the Presidency or the Federal Ministry of Power as of press time. It remains unclear whether the resignation has been accepted or if a replacement will be named immediately.

This marks the latest high-profile departure from Tinubu’s government since he assumed office in May 2023.
