U.S President Donald Trump and members of his administration have continued efforts to investigate alleged election fraud, even after recent probes found no supporting evidence.
Attorney Kurt Olsen, a former Navy SEAL and known election-denier was tasked with uncovering proof of foreign interference in U.S. elections, particularly targeting voting systems used during the 2020 election.
Olsen focused on a widely discredited theory that machines from Dominion Voting Systems were manipulated using malicious code allegedly linked to Venezuela. However, a federal investigation into machines in Puerto Rico found no evidence of hacking after months of forensic analysis.
Frustrated by the findings, Olsen accused the cybersecurity contractor Mojave Research Inc. of obstructing his work and even alleged ties to billionaire George Soros claims the company strongly denied as “patently absurd and ridiculous.”
Despite the lack of evidence, the investigation expanded into other states, including Georgia and Arizona, where the FBI seized ballots and subpoenaed voter records.
The probe reportedly involved multiple federal agencies, including the Office of the Director of National Intelligence led by Tulsi Gabbard, as well as the Justice Department and the FBI. At Trump’s request, the CIA also provided intelligence related to the 2020 election.
Meanwhile, internal tensions grew as officials like Stephen Miller pushed for deeper investigations, including FBI involvement, even after repeated findings showed no evidence of vote manipulation.
Experts and prior analyses including work by cybersecurity authorities , identified some technical vulnerabilities in voting systems but found no proof they were ever exploited.
The persistence of these investigations comes as the administration explores broader control over election systems and voter data, raising concerns among critics about potential challenges to future election outcomes.
Despite ongoing claims, no verifiable evidence has been produced to support allegations that voting machines were compromised in the 2020 election.
