Confusion and frustration trailed several aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday 27th April, as they reportedly faced difficulties obtaining nomination forms at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.
Despite the recent release of the 2027 General Elections timetable and the official announcement of form prices, a significant number of hopefuls from across the country found themselves in a state of limbo, with many left waiting for hours as administrative bottlenecks appeared to stall the process.
The situation follows the party’s announcement on April 21, 2026, which pegged the presidential nomination form at ₦100 million and the governorship form at ₦50 million. While the APC National Working Committee, led by the newly re-elected National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, had initially scheduled the start of the primaries for mid-May, a subsequent adjustment pushed the presidential and gubernatorial dates to May 21 and May 23, respectively.
This sudden shift in the calendar, aimed at aligning with updated INEC guidelines, is believed to have contributed to the logistical backlog currently being experienced at the Blantyre Street headquarters.
Aspirants, many of whom traveled from distant states to meet the earlier advertised deadlines, expressed disappointment over the lack of clear communication from party officials. While the secretariat remains a beehive of activity, the delay in the rollout of the physical and digital forms has sparked concerns among stakeholders regarding the party’s readiness to manage the high volume of contestants.
As of Monday afternoon, party leadership has yet to issue an official statement addressing the “stranded” status of these aspirants, though internal sources suggest that the administrative department is working to resolve the technical and clerical issues by mid-week.
