Benue State woke up to sombre news this Saturday morning as the state government announced the death of its Head of Service, Dr. Agbogbo Ode, who passed away in the early hours of today after a brief illness.
The announcement, which sent shockwaves through the state’s civil service and government circles, was made in an official statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dcns. Serumun Aber. The government described the passing as “sudden,” noting that it occurred on Saturday, May 2, 2026, after a brief illness.
Dr. Ode was a bureaucrat who intil his death, was responsible for overseeing the state’s civil service operations, providing policy coordination and guiding reforms within the bureaucracy and was widely regarded as a steady hand in government administration.
The state government described him as a seasoned technocrat and a respected authority in public service, noting that his tenure was defined by hard work, professionalism, and a commitment to institutional excellence.
In its tribute, the Benue State Government said his “credible and dependable authority in matters of public service, as well as his hard work, brilliance, and immense contributions to the State Civil Service, will forever be missed.”
The government extended its condolences to the deceased’s family, friends, associates, and the entire civil service community in the state, praying for the peaceful repose of his soul.
