British-Nigerian heavyweight boxer, Anthony Joshua, was involved in a serious road accident on December 29, 2025, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Makun, Ogun State, Nigeria.
The vehicle carrying Joshua (a Lexus Jeep) reportedly collided with a stationary truck near Danco Filling Station before the Sagamu Interchange. Two people died at the scene (eyewitness accounts vary slightly on whether they were in Joshua’s vehicle or the truck, but fatalities are consistently reported as two).

Joshua, who was a passenger in the back seat and not driving, sustained minor injuries. He was rescued from the wreckage, appeared dazed in footage circulating online (topless amid shattered glass), and received on-site medical attention. Some reports note he even assisted in rescue efforts.
The incident occurred around midday local time, and authorities are investigating the cause.

No official statement has been released yet from Joshua’s team or representatives. He was in Nigeria on holiday following his recent exhibition win over Jake Paul.
Fans and the public have expressed relief that his injuries were minor while mourning the lives lost.
