….Cautions Against Misinformation
Lucky Obukohwo, Reporting
The Kebbi State Government has set the record straight on the incident that happened at the General Hospital, Bagudo, in the early hours of Tuesday, 30th December, 2025.
The government has said the blast was an explosion caused by fire and not a bomb blast as widely reported on some social media platforms.
The clarification was made by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Yakubu Tafida who confirmed that preliminary findings and reports from security agencies indicate that the loud explosion emanated from a fire incident within the hospital staff quarters, not from any explosive device.
According to the SSG,” the Kebbi State Government is working closely with the Police and other security agencies, who have since taken full control of the situation”.
He said there was no loss of life, adding that while a building was affected, occupants had already been evacuated safely before the incident.
Tafida urged the general public to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information capable of causing unnecessary panic.
The SGG explained that all security agencies, including the Police, Military, and other relevant units, are on top of the matter, while investigations are ongoing to ascertain the exact cause of the fire outbreak.
“The Kebbi State Government commends the swift response of the Kebbi State Police Command and other security operatives for promptly securing the area and ensuring public safety.
“Residents are once again assured of the government’s commitment to the safety and security of lives and property across the state”, Fafida said.
