Father of former Big Brother Naija All Stars winner, Ilebaye Odiniya, Emmanuel Odiniya, has finally spoken on the viral altercation involving his daughter, claiming he was provoked before allegedly assaulting her during a heated family confrontation.
In a voice note reportedly shared on Facebook by Kogi-based journalist, Jeremiah Promise Enemona Ocheme, Emmanuel said the incident was not out of hatred for his daughter, but frustration over what he described as her changed attitude after winning the reality TV show.
“I want to put the records straight that what led to that incident was not that I don’t love my daughter. She is one of my best children,” he said.
According to him, he made several sacrifices and mobilised support to ensure Ilebaye emerged winner of the BBNaija All Stars edition.
“During her time in the Big Brother Naija house, I contributed a lot. I stood by my daughter and made sure people voted massively for her. I used my influence and connections, including governors and other notable individuals, to support her until she won,” he stated.
Emmanuel alleged that their relationship deteriorated after her victory, accusing the reality star of becoming disrespectful and physically aggressive towards him.
“After she came out and won, she changed. Ilebaye stopped listening to me. I would book appointments for her several times a week and she wouldn’t honour them. She stopped regarding me as her father,” he claimed.
He also criticised her lifestyle, especially her alleged cosmetic procedures.
“I warned her against cosmetic surgery, fillers and BBL. She is too young for that,” he said.
The father further alleged that his daughter had assaulted him on previous occasions.
“She has hit me twice before, and I didn’t retaliate. One day, she used an AC hanger to hit me until I started bleeding,” he alleged.
Speaking on the latest incident, Emmanuel claimed the reality TV star attacked him first before the situation escalated.
“In this recent incident, she insulted me, hit me first with a hanger which caused bleeding, pushed me, and broke an electric lantern on my head,” he alleged.
He also accused his daughter of neglecting him financially despite his health condition.
“I am very sick and needed medical treatment in Dubai. I called Ilebaye to assist me financially and promised to pay her back, but she said she had no money. Yet, I later saw videos of her spraying bundles of naira at a colleague’s wedding,” he claimed.
Emmanuel further alleged that Ilebaye negatively influenced her younger brother and interfered in his marriage.
“She influenced her younger brother with drugs and he was expelled from school because of it. She also once advised me to divorce her mother,” he added.
Despite the allegations, he maintained that he still loves his daughter and desires reconciliation.
“I still love my daughter deeply. I want her to change and do better. I ask Nigerians to pray for us. Police have already intervened and settled the matter,” he said.
The incident reportedly happened at the family’s Abuja residence and became public after Ilebaye shared an emotional livestream video crying for help, triggering concern among fans on social media.
Reacting to the development, spokesperson of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Josephine Adeh, confirmed that all parties involved sustained injuries and were receiving treatment.
“The man is in the hospital; he is sick. All of them were badly injured and are receiving treatment,” Adeh said.
She added that the siblings were under police protective custody while investigations continue.
