Concerned Edo stakeholders have appealed to the national leadership of the National Democratic Congress, (NDC), Senator Henry Seriake Dickson to field credible candidates for the forthcoming primary of the party and not those who will ride on the credibility of the former presidential candidate of Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi.
The group made their appeal in a statement made available to journalists through their leader, Mr.Osamwonyi Osarenkhoe Ode in Benin City.
The group said their position is for the party to field a strong and united opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections in the country.
The group said the party’s aim is to provide credible leadership and avoid internal crises by fostering unity among members.
According to the group, “opposition figures like Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso who recently joined the NDC after leaving the African Democratic Congress (ADC), seeking a stable platform amid PDP crises, should not be used as tools to ride on but the NDC should have credible representation.
“It is worthy of note that the NDC will serve as the last hope of Nigeria citizens, especially this era that the ruling All Progressives Congress has failed Nigerian abysmally.
“Nigerians should begin to see the NDC as alternative to replace the APC to bring development, hope and prosperity to Nigerians.
“We are therefore appealing to NDC as a party to critically look inwards and field persons with verifiable credible track records to unseat the APC in the 2027 election.
“We believe that our plea will be heard and the needful be done to guarantee internal democracy and transparency in the primaries.
