Fresh political tension has erupted within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State following a formal petition submitted against the aspiration of Hon. Ahmad Ya’u Noa for the Funtua/Dandume Federal Constituency seat ahead of the party’s forthcoming elections.
The petition, dated May 11, 2026, was addressed to the APC Electoral Appeal and Screening Committee through the party’s National Legal Adviser by Raw Law Solicitors, acting on behalf of what it described as “concerned stakeholders, loyal party members and committed supporters” from the constituency.

The petitioners urged the APC leadership to critically scrutinize the aspirant over allegations bordering on breach of trust, abuse of office, cheating, and alleged misappropriation of public funds. They further claimed that reports linking the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to some of the allegations had already become a subject of public discussion within and outside the constituency.
The petition also raised concerns over Hon. Ya’u Noa’s eligibility to contest under the provisions of the Electoral Act, alleging that he was yet to formally resign from his current political appointment as required by law for individuals seeking elective office.
According to the petitioners, failure to comply with the resignation requirements could expose the ruling party to avoidable legal disputes and possible post-primary litigations capable of threatening APC’s chances in the constituency.
The stakeholders argued that the credibility and public perception of candidates remain critical factors in electoral success, warning that opposition parties could exploit unresolved controversies during campaigns to weaken the APC’s standing in the Funtua/Dandume Federal Constituency.

“Our clients are deeply concerned that failure to critically examine these concerns at this stage may create unnecessary political liabilities for the party, diminish public confidence, and provide opposition elements with materials for political attacks against the APC,” part of the petition stated.
The petitioners therefore called on the APC Screening Committee to carefully review all allegations associated with the aspirant, verify the status of any reported EFCC-related matters, and assess the legal, political, and reputational implications for the party.

They maintained that the petition was not borne out of malice or political vendetta but was motivated by what they described as genuine concern for the unity, stability, integrity, and electoral success of the APC in Katsina State.
As of the time of filing this report, Hon. Ahmad Ya’u Noa had yet to publicly respond to the allegations contained in the petition, while the APC leadership had also not issued an official statement on the matter.
