A former aspirant for the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, Mahmud Sadis Buba, popularly known as Abin Al-Ajabin Zazzau, has withdrawn from the contest.
Buba announced his decision in a statement posted on Saturday on his official Facebook page titled, “Re: Voluntary Withdrawal from the Race for Sabon Gari Federal Constituency, House of Representatives.”
According to him, the decision followed consultations with family members, political associates and key stakeholders within the party, amid ongoing reconciliation efforts in the All Progressives Congress.
“Please accept this letter as formal notification that I am withdrawing from the race for Sabon Gari Federal Constituency, House of Representatives, effective immediately,” he stated.
He explained that stepping down was necessary to promote unity within the APC and enable the party to rally behind a single candidate ahead of the general election.
“This was not an easy decision. But it was hastened by the reconciliation efforts initiated by stakeholders and leaders of our party,” he added.
Buba also appreciated the Kaduna State APC leadership, including Governor Uba Sani, for giving him the opportunity to participate in the party’s nomination process.
“I want to thank the leader of our party, His Excellency Senator Uba Sani, CON, and the leadership of the party in Kaduna State for the opportunity to have participated in the nomination process,” he said.
He urged his supporters to remain peaceful and support whoever eventually emerges as the party’s candidate, stressing that his withdrawal should be viewed as a sacrifice made in the interest of party unity rather than a sign of weakness.
“I ask my supporters to remain calm, united, and to throw their full weight behind the party’s decision and whoever emerges as the party’s candidate,” he stated.
Buba reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and pledged to continue working for the party’s success in future elections.
His withdrawal comes amid public discussions surrounding allegations of age falsification linked to conflicting documents circulating online, although no official indictment has been made against him.
The 30-year-old politician recently participated in the APC screening exercise for the House of Representatives seat, where his youthful appearance attracted reactions online. During the screening, he disclosed that he is the first of nine siblings and said he joined the race following calls from members of his community to serve.
